Burke Museum
As part of this wonderful North East food & wine celebration, don't miss the fascinating exhibition at the Burke Museum of the generational food and wine families of North East Victoria. Entry (normally $8) is free for Harvest Celebration festival goers who have purchased an entry wristband from the event site at La Trobe at Beechworth. The Burke Museum is located in Loch Street, which is directly behind the Beechworth Visitor Information Centre and Town Hall on Ford Street.
For those wishing to learn what Beechworth's pioneers and gold diggers ate, don't miss the opportunity to hear from local author and historian, Richard Paterson at 11.00am on Saturday May 14. Was it really just a 'monotonous iteration of mutton, damper and tea, varied with tea, damper and mutton' or was there more on offer? When did they eat, what did they call 'dinner' and many more fascinating insights will be shared by Richard.
This talk is also free to wristband holders, so make sure you put this in your diary for a must hear experience!
